Joyce C. MacDonald, 80, a longtime resident of Walton, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, following a short illness.
Joyce was born on January 28, 1932 in Nicholson, Pennsylvania; the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Gage) Carpenter. She was a 1949 graduate of Walton High School. On March 25, 1951 she married Douglas MacDonald at the First United Methodist Church, Walton.
Joyce enjoyed decorating her home for seasonal holidays. She earned numerous 1st prizes on both Scarecrow Contests and Christmas decorating. She enjoyed flower gardening and making her home a beautiful place. She was a loving wife and mother for 61 years, raising 4 boys.
Joyce is survived by her loving family; her husband, Doug, her sons, Scott (Sue) MacDonald of Delhi, NY; David (Andrea) MacDonald of Auburn, NY; Thomas MacDonald of Walton; and Patrick MacDonald of Walton; her grandchildren, Geoffrey (Tammy), Miranda (Matt) Rickie, Jason, Jeremy (Amy) Justin, Ashley, Matt, Kendra, Brandon, Marrissa, Joshua, Tamara, Ashleigh, Nicholas, her 9 great grandchildren, her brother, Joseph (Kathleen) Carpenter of Victor; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton where services will be held on Friday morning at 11 AM with the Rev. Mark Del Giudice, officiating. A graveside service will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 PM at the Nicholson Cemetery, Harding Avenue, Nicholson, PA.
