Agnes H. "Aggie" Brown, 68, a lifelong resident of Walton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening, May 1, 2008 at Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton.
Aggie was born in Walton on September 20, 1939 the daughter of Gershom and Josephine (Schlafer) Howland. She was a graduate of Walton High School and attended stewardess School in Ohio. Aggie was known far and wide for her cooking and baking ability. She worked at many restaurants over the years, the Walton Big M and also at the Delaware County correction facility for over 20 years. She loved auctions, bowling where she played on many leagues, collecting Garfield memorabilia and attending dog shows. Aggie was best known for her sense of humor and will be missed by her many friends.
Mrs. Brown married Robert J. Brown on September 19, 1959. Robert passed away on November 11, 1989.
Aggie is survived by her mother, Josie of Walton, 1 daughter, Leslie (Scott) McGraw, Walton; 3 sons, Robert (Katherine) Brown, Edward (Carol) Brown, both of Walton; Steven (Paula) Brown, Downsville; 8 grandchildren, Amanda, Josh, Robert, "TJ", Quintin, Delaney, Kandra, Steven, 1 great grand-daughter, Nikaya Gabrielle, 1 nephew, Chris Breslin, several cousins, her very best friend, Irene Newman, her feline friends, Clairol and Emmitt and several canine red-headed "grandchildren".
Besides her husband, Aggie was predeceased by her father, Gershom and a brother, Edward.
Friends and relatives are invited to call Tuesday, May 6, 2008 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, NY. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the First Congregational Church, 4 Mead St., Walton with the Rev. Jennifer Matison Juliano, officiating. Interment will follow in Walton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Aggie's memory may be made to Walton EMS, Delaware Valley Hospital Emergency Room Building Fund, or Heart of the Catskills Humane Society.
