Alice K. Grenolds, 85, of Binghamton, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 7, 2012 at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton.
Alice was born October 16, 1926 in Roxbury, NY the daughter of the late Robert and Kathryn (Longyear) VanValkenburgh. She was a graduate of Roxbury High School. In December of 1955, she married Merryon Grenolds. He died in December 1997. Baptized in Jay Gould Dutch Reformed Church in Roxbury, she moved to Binghamton and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Vestal Center.
Alice was a homemaker who loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed walking, swimming, gardening and taking care of her flowers. Alice was also a faithful New York Yankee fan and enjoyed playing Bingo at the Jewish County Center. Alice will also be remembered for her strong faith and love of dancing.
Alice is survived by her loving family: three sons, Bill and Regina Grenolds of Endicott; Douglas and Bridget Grenolds and Jim and Penny Grenolds both of Binghamton; 5 grandchildren, Pfc. Kyle and Katie Grenolds of Seattle, Derek and Heather Grenolds of Harpursville, NY, Lucas Grenolds of Binghamton, Valerie Grenolds and Paul Grenolds all of Binghamton; and her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kyle Jr., Trinity and, Adrina, special nieces and nephews, Nancy St. John, Bob Van Valkenburgh, Rick, Ron and Bob Gaska, and several cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday morning, August 10, 2012 from 11 AM to 12 noon at the Fisher-Scholder Funeral Home, 269 Chenango Street, Binghamton, NY where services will be held at Noon. Burial will follow in Spring Forest Cemetery, Binghamton. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
