Alida Goetschius, 92, of Walton passed away on Friday February 17, 2017 at the Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Vestal.

Alida was born November 6, 1924 in Merrickville, NY to the late Clarence D. and Cora (Thomas) Dunshee. She was one of 4 children.

She was predeceased by her parents, Douglas and Cora, her brother Robert Dunshee, her sister Fern Furman, her first husband Arnold Butler of Walton, and second husband Clinton (Bump) Goetschius, of Downsville.

Alida started out working at Scintilla in Sidney during WWII and later worked many years at Del-Met in Walton until her retirement. She also enjoyed being an Avon lady and found much joy in taking care of her many beloved cats over the years. She was a member of the IOOB and enjoyed clam bakes and supporting Firemen functions. She loved traveling by car and visited many US landmarks with her husband Bump. She was a long time resident of Howell Street in Walton and was known by many in the area.

She is survived by her sister Julia Gregory of Walton, her nephews Doug Furman, Gary Gregory, Mike Gregory all of Walton. Her nephew Alan Gregory of Marcy, NY, her nieces June Phoenix of Walton, Evelyn Fish of Hancock, Betty Brown of Aumsville Oregon, and several great and great great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in the Spring.
