Obituary

Alton Wilbur Potter of Spring Park, Minnesota, formerly of the Walton area, died on Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Care Center of Presbyterian Homes on Lake Minnetonka, MN.

Mr. Potter was born on December 4, 1911 in Franklin, he was the son of the late Albert W. and Annie Mae Haring Potter.

He was married to Blanche Armstrong Potter for 65 years, she passed away in 1998.

Alton and Blanche owned a Variety Store in Oxford, and later Alton worked for the Oxford Post Office.

Mr. Potter was a member of Walton Lodge #559 F& AM, where he was recognized as a 65 year member of the Lodge. He also held membership in the Commandary and Shrine.

Alton is survived by his son, Rev. Douglas R. Potter and his wife, Lois; three granddaughters: Beth Potter of New York City, Lynne (Dan) Soderlund of Northfield, MN and their children: Jessica, Amanda, Andrew, Bernadette, Rebecca and Peter; and Karen (Mark) Rova and their children: Kaisa, Brynn and Spencer; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake, Minnesota on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM, a calling hour will be held one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday morning, May 21, 2009 at Walton Cemetery, Fancher Ave., Walton with the Rev. Dr. Miriam Hathaway officiating.

Local arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton, NY.
