Anna D. Ogden, 99 a long time resident of Walton, passed away early Monday morning, January 12, 2009 in the Oneonta Nursing And Rehabilitation Center, Oneonta; where she was a resident for the last 6 years.
Anna was born in Middle Village, NY, on June 26, 1909 the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (Saladin) Decker. On July 4, 1931 she married Thomas D. Ogden. He died on January 23, 1974. She was employed as a clerk at Smith Jewelry, a bookeeper at Ogden's Real Estate, Walton, the family farm and her most important job as homemaker.
Anna was a long time member of the First Congregational Church, Walton; head of the local Red Cross Blood drives, where she gave over 5 gallons, loved baseball and golf and as a genealogist, tracing the Decker and Ogden families back to 1453. She had a keen interest in current affairs and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Anna is survived by 2 sons, Donald (Jeri) Ogden, Walton; Richard (Doris) Ogden, Grayslake, Illinois; 2 daughters, Margaret (William) Powell, North Blenheim, Elizabeth Bartschi, Sidney, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren,1 great great grandson, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Margaret Decker, Della Blank, 2 brothers, John Decker, Anton Decker.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday afternoon, January 16, 2009 from 1 to 3 pm at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home 25 Townsend St., Walton where services will be held at 3 PM with the Rev. Bert More, officiating.
