Obituary

Arlene McLachlan, 91 a life long resident of Walton, passed away at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, after a short illness.

Arlene was born on November 4, 1914 in Walton, the daughter of the late Harry and Goldie Jones Budine. She was educated in and later taught in the Pines Brook Rural School District. In 1935 she married David McLachlan in Pines Brook. He died on July 1, 1976. Arlene's main job was taking care of her family, and she did in a loving and caring way. She loved to tend her garden, knit, chair caning, baking, and spending time with her family. She was still baking bread until 2 weeks ago. Arlene also loved her church. She was a long time member of the Pines Brook Baptist Church, the Ladies Aid, and served as the church's treasurer for over 50 years. She was lovingly known to all the children in her church, over the years, as "Grandma".

She is survived by one daughter: Jean Yarter of McDavid, Florida: two sons: James McLachlan and his wife, Cathy, of Walton, Jesse McLachlan and his wife Charleen of King Ferry, NY, 11 grandchildren, Serena, Chester, Brian, Melvin, Susan, David, Terri, Duncan, Nathan, Robert, Greg, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 4 step great-great-grandchildren, one brother: Douglas Budine of Biloxi, Mississippi, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph McLachlan in 1968, a grandson Victor in 1985, and a brother, Floyd Budine.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday, April 2, 2006 from 6 to 9 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St, Walton. Funeral Services will be held at the Pines Brook Baptist Church on Monday at 1:00 pm, with the Rev. Carl Butler and Rev Lauren Maxson, officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.
