Obituary

Arthur Chester Cocks, Jr., 103, formally of Port Washington, NY and of Downsville, NY, passed away on Thursday morning, January 4, 2018 at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home.

Arthur was born on October 30, 1914 in Port Washington, NY, the son of the late Arthur C. and Susan (Honey) Cocks, Sr. He married the former Ann Dick, who died previously. Arthur was self employed owning the Texaco Station on Manerhaven Blvd in Port Washington from about 1947 to 1984. Prior to that he was a Mechanic building airplane engines for Pratt & Whitney in New Hartford, CT. He was a member of the Port Washington Fire Department and the International Order of Odd Fellows. After retiring, he enjoyed spending his time between Port Washington and his summer home in Corbett (Downsville).

Arthur is survived by his loving family, children, Carole (Joe) Sapienza of Florida; Art, also known as Buddy (Barbara) Cocks of Downsville, NY; Donald (Nancy) Cocks of Mattituck, Long Island; grandchildren, Michael, Robbie, Leann, Sue-Anne, John, Sarah, Derek, Allison, and several nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Muriel.

Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
