Obituary

Arthur B. Klinger, Sr., 80, of Walton passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.

Arthur was born January 29, 1934 in Walton, NY the son of the late Arthur B. and Fannie (Graby) Klinger. On October 12, 1957 he married the former Barbara Mayne. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army from August 1953 to August 1961.

Arthur lived most of his life in Walton where he raised his family. He participated with his children in Girl Scouts and 4-H. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed working on his many projects.

Arthur worked at Bailey's in his youth, when the factory moved he went to work for Williams Motors in Walton, then at NYSEG in Hamden as a Mechanic until retirement. He stayed working full time at the family business Klinger Power Sports, where he could be found everyday. He was very particular about his work ethics and even in his golden years he could work circles around the younger guys.

Arthur enjoyed traveling to new places, including Puerto Rico, Sweden, Australia, Hawaii, and many U. S. destinations.

Arthur is survived by his loving family, his wife of 56 years, Barbara, his daughters, Kathy Shelton, Belinda Hodges, Joanna (Fran) Reed, and his son, Butch (Priscilla) Klinger all of Walton; his grandchildren, Aaron Shelton, Nathan (Nikki) Shelton, Kevin (Kristen) Coons, Kyle ( Samantha) Coons, Ashley Combs, Ryan Hodges, Cody and Kristine Reed, Makayla, Maranda, and Blaine Klinger, great grandchildren, Ava & Hayden Coons and Pipa Willis. His sisters, Ethel (Howard) Olsen of North Carolina; and Virginia Tompkins of Florida. He was predeceased by his brothers, Henry, George, and Charles, his sister, Gladys MacLaughlin.

Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 4PM to 7PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton where services will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 11AM with the Rev. Jay O'Connor officiating. Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery with full military honors. A celebration of his life will be held immediately after at his daughters home at 1141 Freer Hollow Rd, Walton.
