Arthur R. Rose Sr. 78, a Walton resident, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton.
He moved to Walton seven months ago from Warwick.
Mr. Rose was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Sloatsburg, to Edward and Marie (Donnlycot) Rose. He served with the United States Navy from 1946 until 1950, and he retired in 1999 after working for 50 years as a driver for Rogo Trucking in Sloatsburg.
Arthur Rose belonged to the American Legion Post 1643, Sloatsburg, and the Ramapo Motorcycle Club. Before moving to Walton, he enjoyed fishing and poker runs with the motorcycle club and he was an avid dirt motor sport-racing fan at the Orange County Fair Speedway every Saturday evening.
Arthur R. Rose Sr. is survived by a brother, David Wilcox and his wife, Janice, of Sloatsburg; and seven grandchildren, Kris Rose and his wife Angela, Karyl Townsend and her husband, Joseph of North Carolina, Charlie Collins and Courtney Collins, Bloomingburgh, Tina Burghart, Jessica Insinga and Pattyanne Insinga all of Walton. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Brittany Townsend and Joseph Townsend, of Rocky Point, NC., a daughter in law, Patti Rose of Walton. His son, Arthur R. "Dusty" Rose Jr. passed away Saturday, November 11, 2006.
Friends and relatives are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. A double graveside service for Art & Dusty will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Walton Cemetery, Walton.
