IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Astrid
Boye
March 24, 1911 – September 22, 2006
Astrid H. Boye, 95 of Walton, passed away peacefully, Friday afternoon, September 22, 2006 at home, after a long illness.
Astrid was born in Stavanger, Norway, on March 24, 1911, the daughter of the late Jacob and Karin Seal Refsland. At the age of 18, she and her family moved to Brooklyn, NY, where, in January of 1937, she married Finn Boye, who pre-deceased her in December of 1988. She and Finn settled in Walton in 1944 and became active members of the community.
Astrid was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, the Women's Missionary Fellowship, Ladies Aide, and a member of Sons of Norway.
Astrid was a very talented lady who was a gifted artist, as her many treasured oil paintings will attest. She also created beautiful braided and hooked rugs, knit, crocheted, and studied genealogy. In addition, her green thumb gave her great pleasure in her flower and vegetable gardens.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Laura (Jim) McMahon, Janet Boye, both of Walton, Laila (Ed) O'Connor, Abington, Pennsylvania; 1 granddaughter, Tina Marie Olive, St. Thomas, USVI; a great granddaughter, Brianna Astrid Olive, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Carl W, Eide, and Erling Refsland.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday, September, 25, 2006, at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St. Walton, from 11: AM to Noon, where services will be held at Noon with the Rev. Brad Johnston.
Burial will be in Walton Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Astrid's memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice 1 Birchwood Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820 or the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Bruce and East Sts., Walton 13856.
