Avyola E. Bishop passed away peacefully on December 7, 2007 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Avyola was born in the Netherlands on February 26,1928 to her parents, Jons Viruly and Dina M.T. Viruly-VanHattum.
She was pre-deceased by her parents and two brothers, Maarten and Olaf.
Avyola was an airline stewardess for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for 12 years in the Netherlands. She immigrated to USA moving to New York City, and continued to work for KLM in ticket sales for another 20 years.
While in NYC she met her husband, Bernie Bishop in 1971. They married on September 21,1972. They moved to Walton in 1981 and had come to call Walton their home. Bernie passed away on the July 27, 2005.
Avyola is survived by her step-daughter Emmy Wagner, her husband Ernie and their son Steven of Point Pleasant, NJ. Avyola leaves behind many special family members in the Netherlands and South Africa, her nephews Lucas and Francois Viruly, Alain and Robin de Levita and her niece Florence Viruly-Kiff,
Avyola in particular loved the company of her family during their visits. Most recently Lucas, his wife Petra, their children Anne and Andreas, Alain and his friend Marion, and Emmy all spent some time during the last few months.
Avyola enjoyed the time spent with her friends in Walton, too many to name but she knew and loved you all.
Avyola, Bernie and their dog Knicky will be together forever, as the last wish's to have their remains all spread together will be done at the family's convenience. At Avyola's request, there will be no calling hours or services.
Contributions in Avyola's name may be made to Catskill Area Hospice.
