Barbara J. (O'Hara) Bowker, 79 a longtime resident of Walton passed away November 4, 2008 at Sunset Nursing Home, Boonville, New York. Barb was born in Walton on September 16, 1929, the fourth of ten children born to William and Vivian (Thomas) O'Hara.
Barb married Orson "Chub" Bowker on Good Friday, April 4, 1947 in Walton. They had eight children who survive, Pamela (Theron) Howland, Walton; Ona Henderson, Delhi; Daniel (Jean) Bowker, Ashville, N.C; James Bowker, Walton; Roger (Debbie) Bowker, Walton; William "Kelly" Bowker, Mass; Debbie (Rich) Goodrich, Walton; Shawn (Terry) Hitt, Boonville; sisters, Edith (Lester) Dickerson, Mid West, OK; Anna Buel, Delhi; Iva (Bernie) Heim, Moravia, N.Y; brothers, Richard O'Hara, Mt. Upton; Charles "Buck" (Janet) O'Hara, Dunwoody, GA; Sister's In-Laws, Ella Bowker, and Alice Wood. Brother-In-Laws, Donald (Martha) Bowker and Rodney Rutenber. Also surviving are twenty one grandchildren, Mike, Paul, Tammie, Karry, Dale, Dennis, Donnie, Tonya, Sherry, Tara, Nikki, Ken, Kris, Korey, Kasey, Kyle, Matt, Heather, Joelle, Diesel, Shasta; thirteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, William O'Hara and James O'Hara, and two sisters, Alice Rutenber and Margaret Haynes.
Barb worked many years as a cook for several restaurants in Walton. Barb was a friend to lots of people and was a great mom, grandmother and sister. She will be greatly missed.
Friends are invited to call on Friday evening, November 7, 2008 from 6 until 8 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, where services will be held on Saturday morning at 11 AM with Lay Pastor, Pat Judd, officiating. Burial will follow in Walton Cemetery.
