Barbara J. Nichols,71, a lifelong Walton resident, passed away Fri. Feb. 23, 2007 at Countryside Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Walton on Aug. 25, 1935 to Walter J. and Pauline B. (Shackelton) Kinch. She married Maxwell C. Nichols in 1979. She was a farm wife until Maxwell predeceased her in 1997.

Barbara loved her dogs, reading, and doing scratch offs and crossword puzzles. She also valued her family, especially doting over her two grandchildren.

She is survived by her mother, Pauline Kinch, her daughter and son-in-law, Stacy (Kinch) Hyduk and George Hyduk, two granchildren, Amanda and Adam Hyduk, two brothers Ernest G. and Ellie Kinch and Robert Kinch, all from Walton, one sister, Rebecca Budine, of Oxford (who passed away on March 18, 2007), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom were special to her. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter J. Kinch, her brother and sister-in-law Walter and Carol Kinch, Jr., and an infant sister, Carol Sue Kinch.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in the name of Barbara J. Nichols can be made to the National Bank of Delaware County, Walton, as she wished for a trust fund to be set up for her grandchildren, Amanda and Adam Hyduk.

A graveside service will be held at the Walton Cemetery on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Mother Suzanne Cole officiating. There will be no calling hours.
