Barbara N. Thompson, 77 of Walton,formerly of Little Falls, passed away Monday morning April 5, 2004 at home after a long illness. "Barbie" as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Little Falls on November 7, 1926 the daughter of the late Calvin A. and Nellie Hurlburt Newitt. She was educated in Little Falls schools and lived there most of her life. In her youth she helped her father at the Newitt Funeral Service by playing organ at services. She worked as a clerk at the Endicott Johnson Shoe store in Little Falls, and later at Little Falls High School as an Audio-Visual Dept. aid. In 1974 she moved to the Town of Salisbury on Ives Rd to "The Ranch" where she and her late husband Robert K. Thompson lived for 18 years. She enjoyed growing and canning vegetables, feeding the birds and watching the wildlife from her kitchen window. In 1992 she moved back to Little Falls when she became manager of the Snyder Apartments.

She is survived by a daughter Candace Warlow, of Sarasota FL; a son Cal Courtney, of Walton; a granddaughter, Sarah E. Courtney, of Oneonta; two sisters, Marilynn Jones, of Rome; and Joan Bunker of Ormond Beach FL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandson, Calvin N. Courtney.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday April 12, 2004, at the Christ Episcopal Church, Walton. Calling hours will be held after the service Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, Walton. Burial will be at Caroga Lake, NY.
