Basil S. DuMond, 91 a life long resident of Walton, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 8, 2006, in the Countryside Care Center, Delhi.

Basil was born in Walton, the son of the late Ansel and Grace Beers DuMond on December 22, 1914. He was a graduate of Walton High School and attended Cornell University. He married the former Margaret E. Wright on September 24, 1941 in Walton.

He and Margaret owned Harvest Hill Farm on MacGibbon Hollow for many years. He was a member of Eastern Milk Producers and the First United Methodist Church, Walton. Basil loved farming, carpentry, hunting, fishing, and his family, who were a very important part of his life.

Basil is survived by his wife, Margaret, one daughter: Louise Whittleton and her husband, John of Cortland, one son: Bruce DuMond and his wife, Linda of Walton, 6 grandchildren, Carolyn, Michelle, and Cheryl DuMond; Janice, and Erik Whittleton, and Sarah Santisi and her husband, David; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Crawford DuMond DDS, and Lawrence DuMond, and a sister, Catherine Denton.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday evening, November 10, 2006, from 6 to 8 PM , at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 1:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church, 101 North St. Walton, with Rev. Frank Denton and Rev. Mark Del Giudice, officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery.
