Obituary

Bertha R. Foreman, 89 a lifelong resident of Walton, has gone to be with her many friends and family members that have gone on before her. She died as a result of injuries following an automobile accident in Hamden on July 15, 2007, at Wilson Regional Medical Center, Johnson City.

Bertha was born on April 12, 1918 in Papacton, the daughter of the late Edgar and Arantha Kisselberg Youmans. She was a graduate of Walton High School. On July 9, 1938 she married Robert W. Foreman at the United Presbyterian Church Manse, Walton. He died on January 17, 2002. Bertha helped her husband with the operation of the family farm. Bertha's favorite things to do were to go for rides around the country side and to keep in touch by sending many cards to her friends and relatives.

Bertha was a devoted church goer and card club member. She kept active by baking cookies, pies, bread, and special treats for shut-ins and people at the nursing home. She was long remembered by the many corn cutters who enjoyed the fine home cooked meals she served to the workers on the farm. Bertha was a member of the Home Bureau, the Missionary Society of the United Presbyterian Church, a representative of the Delaware County Extension, and many times judged the home demonstrations at the Delaware County Fair.

Bertha is survived by three daughters: Phyllis (Bill) Banks, Janet Hulbert, both of Walton, Carol (Ivan) Bennett, Sidney Center, 1 son, Wayne (Shirley) Foreman, Walton, 14 grandchildren, Lauri,loving grandaughter and care giver, Lance, Lynn Jr., David, Karen, Eric, Michael, Nicole, Kurt, Coreen, Wesley, Amber, Brooke, Wyatt, 19 great grandchildren,4 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Robert, 2 sisters, Mary Youmans and Evelyn (Youmans) Wilson,2 brothers, Harold Yeomans, George Youmans, 4 brother in laws, Lester, Clifford, James, and Edward Foreman, 3 sister in laws, Edith Foreman, Bernice Foreman, and Delight Youmans, 2 son in laws, Lynn H. Warner, Carl Hulbert.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday evening, July 18, 2007 from 6 to 8 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St, Walton. Funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church, cor. of East and North Sts., Walton on Thursday morning at 11 AM with the Rev. Thomas Ballard and Pastor Tom Davis, officiating. Interment will follow in Walton Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Bertha's memory may be made to the "Dollars for Scholars" %Walton Central School, Stockton Ave., Walton, NY 13856.
