Betty La Frano Elderkin passed way Thursday, August 27, 2015 after a long illness in Evansville, IN. She was born April 21, 1926 in Sidney Center, New York the daughter of Edith Slater and Thomas

La Frano.

She married Maynard Elderkin March 21, 1946 in Walton. He predeceased her December 11, 1998. She worked as a seamstress at Deposit and Oneonta dress factories. In her later years she cared for many area children.

Betty is survived by her children, Donna Thomson, Sharon and William Hobbie, Jack and Cathy Elderkin, and Tonda Elderkin, also her grandchildren, Lorna Sgroi, Debra Rothwell, William Thomson, Jr., Donna Hobbie, Eric Hobbie, Shelly Howell, Tracey Elderkin, Thomas Elderkin, Jr., Maynard "Greg" Elderkin, Kristina Elderkin, Lawerance Elderkin, and 23 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son, Thomas Elderkin, Sr., sister, Patricia Page, grandchildren, Tina Turner, and Ryan Thomson, and son in law, William Thomson, Sr.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 10 AM to 12 noon, at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, where services will be held at 12 noon with the Rev. David George and Dr. Janet Schwengber, officiating. Burial to follow in the Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton.
