Obituary

Blanche Barre Cook, 85, of Walton passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, September 12, 2009 at home.

Blanche was born on February 10, 1924 in Deposit, the daughter of the late Leslie and Viola (Frank) Barre.

Blanche was a graduate of Deposit High School, class of 1941. On October 6, 1961 she married Edward W. Cook; they were married for 48 years. She was employed for 20 years as Walton Central School district treasurer. Earlier in her career she was district treasurer for Deposit Central School, and she also worked for NYSEG.

Blanche loved reading, traveling, feeding the birds in her yard and caring for her family. Violets were her favorite flowers.

Blanche is survived by her loving husband, Ed, 3 daughters, Rosolyn (Lyndon) Doig, Walton, Kathleen (Charles) Grossmann, Walton, Melissa (Gregory) Cook Candela, South Salem, NY; 7 grandchildren, Angela, Gregory, Heather, Amy, Sheila, Teela, and Amber, 9 great-grandchildren, Forrest, Taylor, Nicholas, Noah, Quinn, Lucas, Dakoda, Darin, and Haley, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a step-son, Gary E. Cook in 1979, and 2 sisters, Brenda Campbell, and Eleanor Freeman.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM, September 15, 2009 at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton where services will be held on Wednesday morning, September 16, 2009 at 11 AM, with the Rev. Bert More, officiating.
