Bonita Wiley Vogt, 99½, of Walton, New York, formerly of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey passed away Saturday, the 21st of August.
Beloved wife of the late Mayor Ross S. Vogt, Sr. Loving mother of Ross S. Vogt, Jr. of Walton, NY. Dear mother-in-law of Jerry Vogt of Ridgefield Park. Cherished Gram of Deborah Perkel and friend Tom Masterson of Ramsey, Steven Vogt of Bogota, Susan Vogt-Sodaro and friend Robert Walsh of Mahwah. Devoted Great-Gram of Cole Sodaro and Erin Vogt. Her cousin, Francis Arnold of Maryland. Bonnie is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Betty Wiley Hardin.
Bonnie spent her remaining years on her son's farm, enjoying the view of the mountains, gardens, and orchard. She was surrounded by many animals – dogs Chip and Wilson, cows and chickens, and her constant companion, Homer, the rooster.
A long time resident of Ridgefield Park, NJ, Bonnie was a member and past president of the Women's Club and was instrumental in starting the Junior Women's Club where she served as an advisor for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was actively involved as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Merry Peoples Club, and the Women's Society.
During her long time residency of 80 years in her beloved Ridgefield Park, Bonnie was a member of the Republican Club and participated in many civic and service organizations, some of which include the 4th of July Committee, Garden Club, Win or Lose Committee, and World War II Home Front Drive.
A celebration of her life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 60 Cedar Street, Ridgefield Park, NJ at a later date. Burial to be private.
