Bruce G. Neale, 85, a lifelong resident of Walton passed away early Wednesday morning, January 6, 2010 at Fox Hospital of Oneonta.
Bruce was born on February 15, 1924 in Walton, the son of the late Morris and Gracia (Jackson) Neale. He married the former Harriett Wakeman on June 10, 1951 at the First Baptist Church, Walton. He was employed for many years for Ed Hartz & Sons, Deposit. He was also formerly employed by Runnell's Lumber, Mealus' White Castle, More Bros, and Breakstones.
Bruce enjoyed camping, gardening, family picnics, woodworking, walking and visiting with family and friends. He spent his early years working the family farm where he perfected his renowned gardening skills.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Harriett; a daughter, Karen (Steve) Ball of Walton; 2 sons, Glenn (Kathleen) Neale of Texas; Brian (Debra) Neale of Walton, grandchildren, Ryan Ball; Jeff (Christina) Ball and their son, Johnny; Eric Ball; April (Brian) Scharfstein and their sons, Matthew and Jake; and Bradley (Kristina) Neale and their children Hunter, Natalie and Logan; Brother and sister-in-laws, Richard & Ruth Wakeman and Mary Neale, all of Walton; several nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend and neighbor, Steve Harrison. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Robert, Harold and George Neale.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 PM on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, 55 Townsend Street, Walton, where a funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Jay O'Connor, officiating.
