Burnell C. Cobane of Walton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at The New York State Veteran's Home of Oxford, New York. Burnell was born August 27, 1937 in Potsdam, NY. He is the son of the late Lewis M. and Alfreda VanKleek Cobane. He married Diane Newell on March 3, 1962 at Walton, NY.

Burnell proudly served his country in the United States Navy before working at Kraft Breakstone's in food manufacturing. During his free time Burnell loved playing his mandolin at home as well as at Pines Brook Baptist Church where he was a member. Burnell was also a proud member of The National Rifle Association and loved listening to bluegrass music.

Burnell was predeceased by his siblings Judy, Jean, Luther and Sandra.

Burnell is survived by his loving wife Diane, their children Laura (Rod) Smith of Walton, Deb (Tim Freer) Cobane of Guilford, Burnell C. Jr (Kathy) Cobane of Oneonta, Grandchildren Hope Gardepe (Bill Shaw) of Walton, Matt Gardepe (Caitlin Jackson) of Masonville, Vanessa Smith (Adam Hornbeck) of Cicero, Lindsay DuMond (Branden Hurd) of Bainbridge, Devin Cobane of Oneonta and Zackary Cobane of Oneonta. Great grandchildren Dakota D'Addezio of Walton, Dawson Shaw of Walton and Mason Gardepe of Masonville. Also surviving are siblings Marilyn Hurlburt of Cortland and Wayne (Margaret) Cobane of Walton.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Courtney Funeral Home 25 Townsend Street Walton on April 12, 2019 from 11 am to 1 pm. Immediately following funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 1 pm.

Internment for Burnell will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11:00AM at Hamden Cemetery, Hamden, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
