Obituary

Candace C. (Courtney) Warlow, 70, of Sarasota, FL passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at her home in Sarasota.

Candy was born on June 7, 1947 in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Robert J. "Kayo" and Barbara (Newitt) Courtney. She was of the Episcopal faith and attended Emmanuel Episcopal Church, when in Little Falls. She was a graduate of St. Agnes School, Albany; Latin American Institute, NYC; University of Mexico City; and the University of Maryland. She was employed by the US Dept. Of State FBO, Washington, DC; before retiring. On September 18, 1971 she married Ernest J. "Jud" Warlow at the National Cathedral in Washington DC. He died on January 14,1975. During her marriage she and Jud traveled all over the world, to Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and South America.

Candy had a gift for languages and spoke Spanish fluently. She believed in education and took college courses well into her fifties. She had a great love for all animals and gave freely of her time and resources to the rescue of injured and homeless animals. She believed strongly in spay and neuter programs, and helped many others with her knowledge.

Candy is survived by her brother, Cal Courtney of Walton, NY; her beloved niece, Sarah (Jocelyn) Kalman of Schenectady, aunts, Marilyn Jones, Rome and Joan Bunker, Texas and several cousins. She was predeceased by her nephew, Calvin N. Courtney.

A memorial service will be held in Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be in Caroga Lake. Arrangements are with her brother, Cal of Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
