IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carl J.
Carlson
September 10, 1957 – May 9, 2023
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Carl Carlson. Born on 9/10/1957 to Carl "Fred" and Betty Carlson of Trout Creek, NY. He passed peacefully on May 9th 2023, at home surrounded by family and great friends.
Carl "Chrome" was well known for his love of cars, antiques, golf and stone work. He was one of few who has made a hole in one on more than a few golf courses. He broke many course records, played in tournaments every weekend and often played from sunrise to sunset. If you could not find Carl working, or driving around he was most likely at the course. Special thank you to Hardwood Hills Golf Course in Masonville and Afton Golf Course for always making him more than just a golfer, but family.
Carl was everyone's family. Wherever he went, he was welcomed with open arms. He had many stories to tell and could easily talk your ear off, but he has seen it all and been through it all. He lived his life on his own terms and always made sure it was full. He never had a rule book, or schedule, he worked hard, and played harder. Everywhere he went, someone knew him.
His family was his pride and joy. He spent many nights with his children and grandchildren and could be seen driving around with his grandson, Clayton, who was his best friend. They were inseparable and their bond will always be cherished. He often spoke of his siblings and all of their success, and how proud of them he was. He held a special place in his heart for his mother who was, in his words, "the strongest woman alive". Their love for one another was pure and unmeasurable.
He spent much of his younger years playing anything sports related. If there was a ball game going on, he was surely to jump in and play. The neighborhood kids would love to have him join in, often fighting over which team he would be on. Whether it was a kick ball game, basketball game or baseball game, he was always willing to play. He never missed a beat, and continued on the legacy with his grandchildren. Even in his weaker days, he continued to try to get on the floor to play with cars, or legos or just let them jump on him.
Carl is survived by his loving mother, Betty Carlson, brother Mike (Renee) Carlson of Florida, sisters Kimberly of Sidney, NY and Susan (Scott) Suter, of Florida, and nephew Matthew Suter. He also leaves behind his children Cody (Katrina) Carlson of Deposit NY, and Melinda (Corey Steffen) Stanton of Walton NY, and his grandchildren Kylee, Brooke, Dylan, Clayton, Connor and Carter. He is pre-deceased by his father, Carl "Fred" Carlson, and both his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Carl also leaves behind special friends that have welcomed him as family throughout the years including the Wagner Family, the Dawson family, Ronnie "Fletch" Fletcher, Travis Fletcher, Steve "Curly" Fairchild, Craig and Kim Shelton, The Gray family, and so many more. The family of Carl, wishes to send their many thanks and gratitude to everyone who has been kind, caring, loving and welcoming to him over the years. A very special thank you to Carl's dear friend, Dick Layton, who was a wonderful care taker, and was there for him for many years.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Hardwood Hills Golf Course, Masonville NY. We welcome all friends and family to attend and share their memories.
Memorial contributions in Carl's memory may be made to Walton Fire Dept. 61 West St. Wl;ton, NY 13856.
