Obituary

Carl Luther Shelton, 86, passed away Friday, February 9, 2007 in the Countryside Care Center, Delhi, NY.

Luther was born in Trout Creek, NY on March 17, 1920, the son of the late Carl L. and Effie Wilson Shelton. In August of 1942 he married the former Dorothy Martin who predeceased him on July 1, 2005. He was a dairy farmer in the Trout Creek area for many years and enjoyed hiring many of the local kids to help on his farm. He also worked at Amphenol, Sidney for 10 years. Luther played baseball on the Cannonsville town team. He was also an avid New York Yankee fan. He was also known for his great sense of humor and his gift of gab.

Luther is survived by two daughters: Sharon (Tom) Gifford of Masonville, and Kathryn (Bill) Layton of Sidney Center, a son Stephen Shelton of Sidney Center; 20 grand children, Toni, Bruce, Patricia, Robin, Craig, Tracie, Valerie, Marc, Mike, John, Scott, Jessica, Jennifer, Barry, Bambi, Lacey, Brittany, Bob, Duane, and Jill, several great and great-great grandchildren, one brother: Perry Shelton of Trout Creek, brother and sister in law, Bill and Stella Martin, sister in laws, Pauline Alberta, Judy Martin, daughter in law Marie Shelton, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Carl Edwin Shelton in 1998, and a brother, Bruce Shelton.

Friends and family are invited to call on Monday, February 12, 2007 from 1 to 2 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton where services will be held at 2PM. Burial will be in the family plot in Carroll Cemetery, Trout Creek, in the spring.
