Obituary

Carlton L. Bowker, 74 of Walton, passed away Saturday evening, January 15, 2005 at Bassett Healthcare Cooperstown, after a long illness.

Carl was born on June 13, 1930 in Kortright, the son of the late Rowland and Bessie Dietrich Bowker. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War.

He was a Storekeeper, employed by NYSEG Walton, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Walton VFW, Club Royale, where he served as treasurer for many years, and the Apex Sportsman Club. Carl loved to hunt deer. He was a strong supporter of the Walton football team, traveling wherever Walton football was played. He was also a member of the 1949 Walton football team which was undefeated and unscored upon.

He is survived by a son Timothy M. Bowker, of Walton; 2 grandchildren, Katherine and Garrett Bowker, 3 sisters, Dorothy Barnhart, Ruth Bartlett, and Marian Hodge, all of Walton, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call Tuesday January 18, 2005 from 7 to 9 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St, Walton, where services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery, with full military honors.
