Obituary

Carol A. Bennett, 69, of Sidney Center passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Carol was born in Walton on July 3, 1945, the daughter of the late Robert and Bertha (Youmans) Foreman. She graduated from Walton High School, class of 1963, then went on to beauty school in Albany. She married Ivan W. Bennett of Sidney Center, where they have resided for 48 years.

Initially Carol opened a beauty shop in Walton after marrying her life partner, Ivan, then, she moved her beauty shop to their home in Sidney Center. While maintaining her shop, she also went to work for the U. S. Postal Service where she worked as a rural mail carrier for many years, retiring in 2007. Prior to her retirement she had decided she wanted to open a reception hall for square dancing and weddings. She succeeded in fulfilling her dream by opening Covered Bridge Gardens, a well known and liked establishment now.

Carol had an energy unmatched by many. She loved her community and always put her heart into every task, she undertook. She will be missed dearly by the many lives she touched.
