Carol A. Knapp-Jones, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on November 29, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on March 10, 1941, in Merrickville, NY, Carol was the daughter of Clarence and Annabelle Furgason. She graduated from Deposit High School in 1959 and went on to build a fulfilling career as a Dietician, dedicating many years of her life to the Delaware County Home and Infirmary until her retirement in February 2011.
Carol was first married to Robert Knapp Sr., with whom she shared 34 years until their separation in 1994. It was during this time that she found love again with John P. Jones, whom she married on August 30, 2003, in Plattsburgh, NY. Together, they created a beautiful life in Delhi before moving to Walton in 2013 to be closer to her children and family.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband, John P. Jones, her children: Robert Knapp Jr. of Walton, NY, Debra (Gary) Pettit of Walton, NY, Daniel (Chris) Knapp of Ohio, and Karen (Rocco) Webster of Ohio, along with stepchildren Savannah (Bucky) Barlow of Delhi and Brandon (Gerri) Jones of West Oneonta. She is also lovingly remembered by her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Carol is survived by her sisters, Priscilla Scofield of Walton, NY, Linda (Lewis) Sharps of Mississippi, and Jean (Jim) Scofield of Walton, NY, and her brother Clarence (Buck) Furgason of Bainbridge, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Annabelle Furgason, and her brother Eric Furgason.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held at the Courtney Funeral Home in Walton on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Friends and family will be welcomed during calling hours from 10 AM to 12 PM, with a service to honor her spirit at noon. Burial will take place at a later date.
Carol's warmth, kindness, and contagious laughter will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire her family and friends for years to come.
