Carol A. McRedmond O'Dowd, 56, of Delhi passed away on Wednesday morning, February 10, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family.

Carol was born on November 15, 1959 in Delhi, the daughter of the late William and Doris (Cantwell) McRedmond. Carol grew up in Delhi and graduated from Delaware Academy Class of 1978. Carol moved to Long Beach in the 1980's where she raised her children.

Carol is survived by her loving family, sons, Jeremiah (Dayrn) Rich of Delhi; Michael O'Dowd of Long Beach, NY, and their father Thomas O'Dowd of Long Beach, NY. She was loved by her two grandchildren, Anthony and Ayden. Her siblings, Anna (Mike) Mason of Delhi; Mary (Doug) Rosa of Delhi; a brother, Robert McRedmond, of Wilmington, Del; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, John McRedmond. Carol lived in Texas, with her partner George Weigel.

Carol was a self-employed carpenter in both Delhi and Kingston. She enjoyed sailing in the waters between Kingston and Texas. Carol also worked as a floral arranger at the Green Thumb in Hamden and Coddington's Florist in Oneonta, making use of her creative talent with plants. She was the founding member of Boca Chica Beautification Committee of Texas, where they named a Park after her.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Delhi on Saturday February 20th at 11:00 a.m., with Janet Schwengber officiating. Arrangements are with Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
