Catherine Y. Townsend, 90, of Downsville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Delhi Rehabilitation & Nursing Center following a long illness.

Born June 22, 1929 in Scranton, PA, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Cherno Yevich.

Catherine was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church Altar Guild for over 40 years. She also enjoyed bird and deer watching, golfing, puzzles, sharing stories with friends at local diners but most of all loved watching her grandchildren play various sports.

Survivors include her children Michael Townsend of East Syracuse, Gerald F. Townsend, Jr. (Marilyn) of Downsville, Terry R. Townsend (Julie) of Downsville and Richard Townsend (Susan) of Bainbridge; grandchildren Gordon, Hope, Jamie, Jason, Claudia, Nicholas, Allison, Logan, Nathan, Melissa, Kathryn and Eric; great grandchildren Kaileen, Chance, Ashton, Guilana, Ciara, Landon, Elliot, Everett and Leona; brother Robert Yevich (Joyce) and a special nephew Michael Reynolds. Catherine is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service to celebrate Catherine's life will be held at Paige Cemetery at a day and time to be announced.
