Charles William "Chuck" Hafele 65 a lifelong resident of Walton, passed away on Sunday evening, March 20, 2011, at O'Connor Hospital, Delhi following a long illness.

Chuck was born in Walton on January 22, 1946, the son of the late Bernice (Radeker) and Henry Hafele.

"Chuck" is survived by his brother, Richard (Mary) Hafele, his aunt, Mary Radeker, six nieces and four nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth and her husband Paul Shields, and brothers, Robert and his wife, Dianne Hafele; and Gail Lee Hafele.

He was a custodian for the Walton Central School system.

Chuck loved children and animals. Chuck was multi-talented. He was a brilliant mathematician and had a mechanical mind and loved tools. His projects were well thought out down to the last detail. He hand-crafted beautiful leather pieces which he proudly presented to his family. In his younger years, he refereed football games. When his nieces and nephews were young, he took his role as Santa Claus very seriously.

Graveside services will be held later this spring at a date and time to be announced.
