Charles J. Seward, 69 of Trout Creek, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009 at home with his family by his side.

Charlie was born in Deposit, on March 22, 1940 the son of the late John A. and Wanda May (Beardsley) Seward. He was a graduate of Walton High School. He was first employed by the New York DEC as a FWMA Officer and later as the Town of Tompkins Constable. He proudly served his country in the US Army. On June 9, 1964 he married the former Carol A. Gardepe at the Deposit Presbyterian Church.

Charlie was a member of the Guntown # 1554 American Legion, Three Rivers Gun Club of Unadilla, Delaware County Sportsman's Federation, and a charter member of the Sidney Center Trappers Club. Charlie loved spending time outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodcraft, NASCAR and car collecting. He was also a man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Charlie is survived by his loving family, his wife Carol, 2 sons, Dale L. (Cindy) Seward, Trout Creek; John A. (Dawn) Seward, Northfield; 1 daughter, Penny S. (Robert) Constable, Sidney Center; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie (Jay), Travis, Thomas, Shannon, Robert (Budger), Kenny, Adam, 1 great granddaughter, Riley, daughter in law, Kym Seward, several nieces, nephews and cousins, good friends, Mark, Joe, Kacey, Gary, Lloyd, and many, many more.

Friends and relatives are invited to Call on Monday, June 1, 2009 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, NY. A gravesidewill be held on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Sidney Center at 2 PM, with the Rev. Bert More, officiating.
