Clark K. "Cork" Mills, 68 a long time resident of Downsville, passed away early Sunday morning, June 13, 2010, at the Stratton Veterans Hospital, Albany, following a long illness.
Cork was born in Hamden on December 12, 1941, the son of the late Reginald and Isabelle (Knapp) Mills Sr.
On December 5, 1964 he married Carol Wellman in Cicero, New York.
Mr. Mills proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. (Semper Fi). He was a former member of the Downsville and later Delhi American Legion.
Cork was employed for many years as a carpenter for various construction companies throughout the area. He also was a certified umpire for baseball and softball games.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing baseball, and watching Nascar,cheering for his favorite driver Jeff Gordon.
Cork is survived by his loving family, his wife Carol; his sons, Clark K. Mills, Jr., Auburn; Reginald Mills, Binghamton; Raymond (Heather) Mills, Downsville; Brian Mills, Terry (Amanda) Mills, Walton; his daughters, Beth (Ronald) Worden, Oswego; Sandra (Larry) Wilcox, Palermo; Laura (Nelson) Gardner, and Christine (John) Whiteside, both of Walton; 19 grandchildren, Ronald III, Christopher, Dustin, Kayla, Keirstin, Raelynn, Donald, Michael, Christina, Andrew, Mitchell, Jordon, Larry II, Taylor, Hailey, Deacon, Makayla, John III, and Angelas; brothers, Don Mills, Gene (Judy) Mills, Jim (Goldie) Mills, Bill Mills; his sisters,Sandy Elmore, Mickey (Pat) McClenon, Roxanne (Mike) Bartolillo, Terry Allen, Tracey Wilson all of Downsville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cork was predeceased by his brothers, Reginald in 1997, Thomas in 2009 and a sister, Bridget in 2007 and his 3 grandchildren, Samantha Wilcox, Angel Mills, and Allison Mills.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Downsville,Friday morning, June 18, 2010 at 11 AM with the Rev. Michael Shank, and Rev. R. L. Donahue officiating. Burial will follow at Paige Cemetery, Downsville, with full military honors.
