Clark E. Tuttle, 91, of Downsville passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center of Rochester, NY.
Clark was born on July 5, 1924 in Rock Rift, the son of the late Fred and Sadie (Wayman) Tuttle. On November 10, 1945 he married the former Margery Bourne at the Church Of England, Goldenhill, England. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart, EAME Campaign Medal and the WW II Victory Medal. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes). He was employed by S.J. Groves & Son Construction of Rochester for many years.
Clark was a member of the Downsville American Legion, Downsville Historical Society a building inspector for the Town of Colchester for 17 years and a 75 year member of the Colchester Community Church. He loved to see things grow and enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden.
Clark is survived by his loving family, his wife, Margery, his children, Janice (Harvey) Collen, Clark Jr (Diane) Tuttle, Jo Ann (Rick) Scheffer, Paul Tuttle, Jerri (Vance) McMichael, his grandchildren, Mark (Hilary)Cox, Matthew (Kathy) Scheffer, Jenny (Rick) Mathiesen, Jessica (John) Roe, Benjamin (Liz) scheffer, Kathryn (Rich) Muser, Pat and Joshua McMichael his great grandchildren, Owen and Adelyn Cox, Hannah Scheffer, Annie Mathiesen, Christian and Brenden Scheffer, Richie and Victoria Muser, Rick Scheffer ,his brother, Freddie Tuttle, his sister Pearl Rhinebeck of TN; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters, Leona and Dorothy a brother Tommy Tuttle and a grandson David Cox.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday afternoon, August 4, 2015 from 4 to 7 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday morning, August 5 at the Colchester Community Church, 15151 State Highway 30, Downsville, NY with the Rev. Dale Ashby, officiating. Burial will follow in Paige Cemetery, Downsville with full military honors.
