Clifton L. Pause, Jr., 74 of Bovina Center passed away in his home on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, following an ongoing illness.
Clifton was born on May 24, 1943 in Adams, MA. the son of the late Clifton L. Pause, Sr. and Mabel C. Laliberte.
Clifton attended Adams Memorial High School in Adams, MA where he was manager of the baseball team from 1960-1961. He was also a member of the spring formal, junior promenade and Christmas dance committees. He worked part-time at Kirby's Market while attending school. He graduated from AMHS on June 15, 1962. He then proudly served his country in the US Navy from August 1962 to August 1966 as an Electricians Mate 3rd Class. He served in the Vietnam War offshore. He received an Honorable Discharge on July 11, 1968.
Clifton worked as a Groundsman for New York State Electric and Gas before becoming a Lineman for REA in Delhi on March 25, 1968. He advanced to Second Class Lineman in 1970. He became 1st Class Lineman in 1973 and continued to work as such until his retirement on March 31, 2003. For 35 years he had become REA's primary underground cable installer and was "difficult to replace".
Clifton was a member of the Vet's Club in Walton, Club Royale Oasis, The American Legion, The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and the Hamden Rod and Gun Club. Following retirement he worked part time for Parts Plus in Delhi.
Clifton enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, woodworking, fishing, hunting, cooking, baking, and spending time with his family. He made many friends through the years and never went anywhere without seeing someone he knew. He is loved my many and will be greatly missed.
Clifton is survived by his loving family, his children, Michelle Pause (Rich Eck) of Walton, Pamela (Joe) D'Addezio of Walton, Kathleen (Burt) Goulet of Bloomville, grandchildren, Ryan, Kaitlynn, Andrew, Brianna, Gabriel, Olivia, and one great grandchild, Landon due in late October; a brother, Donald (Michele) Pause of MA; 3 nephews, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and his stepfather, Prosper Bishop.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 5PM to 8PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton.
