Clyde L. Stevens, 83, of Unadilla, formerly of Walton, passed away suddenly on Tuesday afternoon, September 8, 2009 at Robinwood Home for Adults, Oneonta.
He was born on February 11, 1926 in Milford, DE, the son of the late Ralph and Mabel Stewart Stevens.
Clyde served in the US Navy during WWII and was the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal for injuries sustained when his ship was attacked.
Mr. Stevens was married to E. Louise Kilmer Tweedie on April 12, 1967, she died on October 24, 1999.
Clyde was an electrician for Bendix Corp. in Sidney until his retirement in 1987.
He is survived by one daughter Joyce Nichols; a step-daughter Janet Shatynski and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his wife, E. Louise Stevens, Clyde was predeceased by his son, Peter Stevens in August of 2009.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton with the Rev. Barbara Green officiating. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the service at Hamden Cemetery, Hamden
