Connie Barnes Gage passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. In the face of great pain, she demonstrated love, grace, determination and a sense of humor.

Connie was a life-long resident of Walton. She was born on July 12, 1946 to Warren and Mary (Elmore) Barnes. She graduated in the Class of '65 from the Walton Central School and The Utica School of Business.

On May 24, 1969 she married Robert C. Gage, Jr. who survives her at home. She is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Laurie Gage III of Whitesboro, NY, her father, Warren (Bud) Barnes of Walton, a brother, Curtis Barnes of Sherburne, a special niece, Kathy Barnes, student at Paul Smith College and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Barnes.

She was employed by Kraft Foods for 35 years. Connie spent many hours meticulously maintaining her home, yard and flower garden. She was a gourmet cook and remembered friends and family on special occasions with her homemade treats.

Connie will be remembered for her graciousness, kindness and caring heart which endeared her to so many. She was surrounded by the love family and friends she made in her lifetime as well as special friends she made during her illness.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Paige Cemetery in Downsville, NY. Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Downsville American Legion for a time of refreshment and remembrance.
