Obituary

Cristobal (Cris) Alfonso Alvarez, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the Robinson Terrace Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Stamford, New York.

Born on August 2, 1941, in Oakland, California, a son of the late Pedro and Aurora (Galvez) Alvarez. Cris was raised in California and relocated to Trumbull, Connecticut, where together with his beloved wife, Sally (Gavett) Alvarez, raised their three children.

Cris earned his bachelor's degree from Rochester Institute of Technology and became a mechanical engineer, proudly working on the Hubble Space Telescope.

He loved to go camping and make memories on family trips with his children. Often you would find Cris watching the UConn Women's Basketball games with his daughter Jessica. He was an avid fisherman, hunter & golfer. In his youth, Cris was a professional caddy at the Bel Air Country Club and followed the pro tour all over the country. Once retired, Cris worked at the Aspetuck Valley Country Club in Weston, CT.

Cris is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Sally; daughter, Jessica Alvarez; son, Toby Alvarez (Meredith); sister, Esther Mendoza (Henry); sister, Linda Herrera (Humberto); brother, Pedro Alvarez Jr. (Kevin McNulty); grandchildren Paige & Trevor Alvarez; sister-in-law, Robyn (Van Vleet) Alvarez; uncle, Pascual Galvez (Barbara); uncle, Jose Alvarez; aunt, Sofia Diaz and his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cris was predeceased by his son Alex Alvarez; and brother Francisco Alvarez.

Services for Cris will be held privately by his family.
