Curtis W. Combs, 76 a long time Walton resident and real estate broker, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, September 5, 2006.
Curt was born on February 14, 1930 in the Bronx, the son of the late Harold L. and Florence Beers Combs. He moved to Walton as a baby. He was a graduate of Walton Central School. He later attended Hartwick College, and Mohawk Valley Community College where he earned a degree in Business administration. Mr. Combs married the former Millicent Gobel on July 6, 1952 in Oneonta. He served his country in the Air Force.
Curt was self employed as a Real Estate Broker, at Combs Real Estate. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Walton, the American Legion, the Walton Chamber of Commerce, and the chair of the Village of Walton zoning board. Curt enjoyed visiting with his friends over coffee at TA's
He is survived by his wife: Millie, one daughter: Diane ( Michael) Langford of York, Pennsylvania; 3 grandchildren, Timothy (Laura), Benjamin, and Daniel, a great grandaughter, Melanie, 3 brother in law's, Harold, and Donald Gobel, and Leonard "Tex" Sobel, 3 sisters in law, Hilda Transue, Gladys Quinn, and Adah (Walt) Byam, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday, September 8, 2006 from 6 to 8 PM at the Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St, Walton, and Saturday from 1 to 2 PM where services will be held at 2 PM with Rev Michael Langford, officiating.
Memorial contributions in Curt's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-Memorial, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
