Daniel James Shackelton, 43, of Walton NY, passed away on July 15, 2025, after a long illness.  Danny was born May 14, 1982 in Walton NY, the son of Ben and Linda (Kilmer) Shackelton.

Danny joined the US Army in 2000 and served until honorably discharged as a Sargent in 2006. He earned many awards while serving, including a Bronze Star. He was stationed in Germany and served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Danny was a loving father to his son, Corbyn, and lived every day to support his boy.  He loved fishing, music, playing guitar, and going to concerts with his brother-in-law.  He enjoyed walking around Walton at different times, interacting with his many friends he would see during the day, while appreciating the peace and quiet of his nighttime walks.

Remaining to cherish Danny's memory are his son, Corbyn; sister, Sandra (Huyck) McMinn; nephew, Trevor Hare; brother, Geoff Shackelton; nephews, Cameron & Ian Shackelton; brother-in-law, John Holley; nieces Amanda and Heather Holley; and many other family members within the Kilmer and Shackelton families. He was predeceased by his parents, Ben and Linda (Kilmer) Shackelton; his sister Valerie Shackelton Holly, his maternal grandparents Don and Elenor Kilmer; his cousin Travis Kilmer; and his paternal grandparents Glenn and Emma Shackelton.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday August 6, 2025, at 11am at the Hamden Cemetery located at 176 Cemetery Rd, Hamden, NY 13782 with Military Honors. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Walton Vet's Club located at 10 Park St, Walton, NY 13856 following the services.
