David C. Thompson, 61, a longtime resident of Walton, passed away early Saturday morning, October 21, 2017 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

David was born on June 6, 1956 in Sidney, the son of Russel T. Thompson and Beulah M. (Phoenix) Hussey. He married the former Lorraine Philpott on May 17, 1980 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sidney. He first worked at Del-Met, Walton; he then was a machinist at Bard-Parker, Hancock, and finally worked as an instructor at Broome-Tioga BOCES for computer networking and repair. He was a mentor for Skills USA, teaching computer networking. He proudly served his country in the US Navy Seabee's.

David loved the outdoors and everything in it. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and camping with Jackie and Dave Brown. He loved puttering in the garage, "Lorraine's Doghouse", riding motorcycle, watching NASCAR, playing with the grandkids and belonging to the Renegade Pulling Team.

David is survived by his loving family, his wife, Lorraine, his mother Beulah M. Hussey, Treadwell; children, Melissa and Marc Layton, Trout Creek; Cecilia Thompson and James Palmer; and David A. and Amy Campbell, all of Walton., grandchildren, Jordan, Nathaniel, Caleb, Isabelle, Douglas, Cameron, Kiersten, Damien, Madison, Kaden and Nevaeh; brothers, Arthur Thompson, Morrisville; Thomas Thompson, Walton, sisters, Irene Catron, Treadwell; and Mary Marincell, brother in law Mark Philpott Sidney, Ronald Philpott Massachusetts; sister in law Karen and Dan Woodruff Saranac Lake and Ericka Philpott Nantucket; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close loving friends. He was predeceased by his father, Russel, Mother and Father in law, Kristin Greene and James Philpott and step-fathers, Allan Greene and Donald Hussey.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Walton Cemetery.
