Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dawn Thomson, (Grammy Dawn) beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on April 30, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on May 19, 1958, Dawn filled her life with love and passion, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

A true horse lover, Dawn owned eleven beautiful horses that she cared for with unwavering devotion. Her passion for these majestic creatures was only matched by her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Known widely as "Deez T's," she designed unique t-shirts that captured her vibrant personality and artistic flair. She looked forward to attending local craft fairs, and the Delaware County Fair with her business. She equally enjoyed and looked forward to having the grandchildren make new things to design and sell.

An avid gardener, Dawn found solace and joy in tending to her plants, cultivating beauty both in nature and in her daily life.

"Gram Camp," where she taught her grandchildren how to sew, cook, bake and many other life skills, that were important to her, is something that forever leaves a long lasting imprint on those that attended. She shared countless pictures of those "adventures" that radiated her love and pride.

Dawn's warmth and nurturing spirit drew people in, and her laughter could light up even the darkest of days. She will be remembered for her generous heart, creative soul, and the deep connections she fostered in her community.

Dawn is survived by her beloved husband Mark Wood of Walton, her children; Jesse (Jamie) Thomson of Walton, daughter Tara (Kenny Morse) Thomson, of Walton, son Richard (Rebecca) Thomson of Walton, son Shane (Kayla) Thomson of Stamford, her brothers; Steve Hoffman, David Lambert of Walton, and sister Cathy Hoffman of Walton. Dawn is also survived by her grandchildren; Daren, Randi, Angel, Waylon, Emma, Tyler, Jaedyn, Maisyn, Aubrie, Charlotte, Tristan, Lillie, Josephine, Melissa, Wesley, Paul, Jacob, and Dakota, her great granddaughter Alessia, and her niece Sophia along with several cousins. She had many children that called her grammy Dawn and always treated them like her own.

Dawn was predeceased by her husband Randy Thomson, her son Cole Wood, grandchild Cameron, and her mother Joyce Hickman.

She deeply cherished family time always including everyone. Always baking or cooking for her "Army" no one ever left hungry, especially when there was lasagna. A voice of reason for any and all. She was selfless, always making sure to take care of her family even before herself.

Funeral services for Dawn will be private.
