Dennis F. Brundege, 62, passed away Monday evening, January 2, 2012 at home in Whitney Point, following a long battle with cancer.
Dennis was born on January 11, 1949 in Walton, the son of the late Floyd and Alice (Hungerford) Brundege.He had worked at SJ bailey & Sons and Del-Met in Walton and later was employed at Endicott Johnson. He was a long time resident of Walton and lived in West Corners and was forced to move when his home was destroyed during the 2011 flood. He often spoke fondly of the many friends he had made in the neighborhood and at work.
Dennis had a lifelong love of sports and hunting which he shared with his children. As a youth he could always be found bouncing a softball against the back of the house. He also enjoyed camping at Crystal Lake and at Bear Spring Mountain. Later, he enjoyed watching the Oakland Raiders, the New York Mets and the Syracuse Orangeman basketball teams.
Dennis is survived by his loving family, his children, Michelle (William Hall) Brundege of Walton; Teresa (Greg) Westcott of Lisle, NY; Daryl Brundege of Walton, NY, Chris (Tammy) Brundege of Walton, NY, Joey Hart of Maine; grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Payton, Branden, Christopher, Mackenzie, Shania, Robert and Kenneth, two sisters: Sheryl (Bill) Edwards of Walton, NY, Sharon (Robert) O'Dell of Walton, NY and one brother: Niles Brundege; the mother of his children, Betty Brundege of Walton; special aunt, Beverley Thomas of Cooperstown, step-father, Victor Johnson; special friends, David VanLoan, Albert and Nancy Gilbert, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalyn Possemato, and nephew, Brian Brundege.
The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton, NY with Rev. Bert More officiating. There are no calling hours.
The family would like to thank Ronald Harris, MD and "Dr. Cuse" and all the other wonderful people at Broome Oncology for their compassionate and great care.
