Obituary

Destyni Jade Twyman began her memorable journey on August 10, 1999. She was brought into this world by Jaclyn Calabrese and Philip Twyman. She quickly grew into a beautiful little girl. She was destined for great things with her tremendous personality, loving spirit and heart of gold. When her little sister came home to be by her side, she was beaming with pride. Destyni was so eager to help care for her baby sister. Caring for others was a huge part of her life. Throughout her days at Townsend school, she was often chosen for student of the month, even given the honor of being teacher for the day in fifth grade. She always strived to get good grades and put forth all of her effort to stay at the top of her class. She began playing football in the booster club and was the only girl on her team. Every one watched as she scored the first touchdown of the season with a full field run. Her love of basketball started in 6th grade. Her coaches saw so much potential in her they pulled her to varsity by the end of 7th grade. She played every sport she could until she found her favorites. She loved basketball, soccer and track but would have played them all if she could have. She received many sports and grade related awards. Stayed on superintendents list every quarter and had been named a scholar athlete, just to name a few. She somehow found the time to play clarinet. Then went on to play bass clarinet, because she loved the deep sound it made.

Outside of school she spent a lot of time with her family and close friends. Destyni had a great love for country music and always had it playing. There were many hobbies she enjoyed including hunting, fishing, camping and making things beautiful. She was well known for making the most amazing gifts for her family and friends. She put so much time and effort into everything she did, nothing was less than perfect. During her senior year, Destyni worked at the Rainbow Lodge as a hostess and the Delaware County Fair. She proudly became a member of the National Honor Society in school and in the Security and Law program at Boces. She had signed up and been sworn into the United States Army. She planned on graduating high school with honors in June and leaving for boot camp on July 10, 2018. After serving her country in the Army, she planned on becoming a police officer. Her lifelong dream was to become a police officer with the K9 unit.

Destyni will live on in the hearts of many family and friends. Her loving mother and father, Jaclyn Calabrese and Philip Twyman; Step mother, Meagan Sam Twyman. Younger sister and best friend Jewel Twyman, little sister Angel Roach and baby brother Aidyn Twyman. Grandparents, Nana and Pop-pop, Cindy Calabrese and Jeff Anthony, Terry Calabrese Sr. Deb and Russell Schedell. The love of her live, her partner in crime Derek VanValkenburg. There are also many more loved ones and friends she touched along her amazing journey.

Destyni was welcomed into heaven by Great Gram, Carol Arquette. Uncle Bill and Aunt Sue Banks. Uncle Benny Twyman and baby cousin Azilyn Calabrese.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate Destyni's cherished life and memories on Saturday January 13, 2018 and again on Sunday January 14 2018 at the Walton Fire Department. We gathered to tell Destyni she will always be in our hearts. We did not say good bye but that we will see her again someday. Everyone proudly wore orange and black in her honor. Services were with Courtney Funeral Home.
