Donald F Bowker, 76, a lifelong resident of Walton, went home to his Lord on Saturday evening, August 22, 2009, following a long and courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Don was born in Beerston on February 16, 1933, the son of the late Daniel T. and Ona (Mosher) Bowker. He was a graduate of Walton High School. On August 11, 1956 he married the former Martha Bullis at the Congregational Church, Walton. Don proudly served his country in the US Army during the the Korean war. He was employed as the garage supervisor by Breakstone's, Walton. Don was a faithful member of the Northfield Community Church. Don will be remembered as a soft spoken man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading westerns.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 53 years, Martha, a daughter, Edythe Bowker, Walton; a son, Robert (Darlene) Bowker, Binghamton, 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Derek) Baker, Elizabeth (Charles) Burger, Jeremy (Lisa) Bowker, 3 great-grandchildren, Emilie and Dawson Baker, and Joshua Bowker, sister, Alice Wood, Walton, sister-in-laws, Murlene Bullis, Deposit; Ella Bowker, Walton; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and special extended family, Cindy and Bob DeMarmels. He was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa, 9 brothers, Marvin, Ed, Daniel, James, Jesse, Otto, Glen, Orson, William, 1 sister, Gladys Bowker.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am on Friday morning, August 28, 2009 at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Ave., Walton, NY with Pastor Don Crossman officiating, with full military honors. Memorial contributions in Don's memory may be made to the Northfield Community Church, 5118 County Hwy 23, Walton, NY 13856 or Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820. The Bowker family would like to thank their church family for all their support during Don's illness.
