IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald T.
Ogden
April 8, 1932 – March 11, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donald Thomas Ogden who left us on March 11, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on April 8, 1932, Don, a lifelong resident of Walton, lived a life characterized by service, love, and dedication.
Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a staff sergeant with the Marine Observation Squadron (VMO-6) during the Korean War, carrying forth the values of duty and honor throughout his life.
Don was the respected owner/broker of Donald T. Ogden Real Estate. His journey in real estate began with attending Mohawk Valley Community College majoring in Banking, Insurance and Real Estate. During college he worked for Utica Mutual Insurance Company as an underwriter. After college, he worked for John C. Stott Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Norwich, NY. Moving to Walton, he joined his father at Thomas D. Ogden Real Estate performing insurance and real estate sales. Don purchased the Real Estate business from his father in the early 1970's and sold it to his son Todd in 1996 where he continued to work as a real estate broker and appraiser. He also served as the Village and Town of Walton assessor.
Don touched many lives through the numerous organizations he was involved with: Otsego-Delaware Board of Realtors, Walton Lions Club, American Legion Post 32 where he received a Certificate of Continuous Membership for 70 years, Walton's Veterans Club VFW 270, Delaware Valley Hospital Board, Walton Historical Society, The First Congregational Church serving as trustee, treasurer, and deacon, and Walton Fire Department where he received Fireman of the Year honors.
The eldest of four, Don grew up on a family farm and performed all manners of chores. He was quite the horseman and was an avid private pilot, being the proud owner of a Cessna 182. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, dancing, and attending car shows with his 1957 Cadillac. Don was also the owner of a 46 Jeep Willy that he proudly drove in all the Veterans Day and Memorial Day parades.
Don's kindness, coupled with a warm smile and a genuine interest in helping others, made a lasting impression on everyone he met. His love for his family and his country was evident in everything he did. He found joy in the simple moments, from sharing stories with loved ones, to lending a hand to those in need. Don will be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but for his kind spirit.
