It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald L. Tompkins, who left us on October 27, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on September 14, 1942, to his parents John Tompkins and Isabelle Croop.
Donald devoted 25 years of his life to dairy farming, he also took great pride in serving the community as a bus driver for Downsville Central School, ensuring that local children made it to school safely every day. In addition to his time in farming and education, Donald worked with S.J. Bailey and Sons Co. and C.H.I. in Corbett, NY, before moving on to maintenance at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.
Donald cherished moments spent hunting and fishing, with the tranquility of nature always bringing him joy. He had a passion for dancing and found great joy in bowling, often sharing laughter with friends and family. Donald also had a special connection with quarter horses, enjoying every moment spent raising them. Donald often reminded us with his favorite saying, “can’t fix stupid,” leaving behind a legacy of humor.
