Donald L. Westbrook 77, of Port Crane, went to be with the Lord on Monday afternoon, August 15, 2005, in Delaware Valley Hospital after a long illness.
Don was born on July 17, 1928 in Susquehanna, Pa the son of the late George and Genieve Myers Westbrook. He served his country in the United States Navy during WW-II aboard the USS Houston, and the USS Perry. On June 28, 1969 he married the former Marie Wilkins. Don was self employed as a plumbing and heating contractor. Don was a member of Plumbing Local # 112, the Susquanango Power Squadron Boating Club, Hillcrest Post of the American Legion, Chenango Bridge, and the First United Methodist Church, of Chenango Bridge. Don and Marie loved to go camping and boating at Echo Lake, and Keuka Lake,where they kept their boat at Troy's Marina.
Don is survived by his loving wife Marie, 3 children, Dennis Westbrook and his wife Helen, of Florida; Ronald Westbrook, and his wife Lori, of Baldwinsville; Jerry Westbrook, and his wife Sharon, of Conklin; 2 grandchildren, Ashley and Heather Westbrook; 6 step-children, Vicky and John Simeone, of Port Crane; Linda Godfrey, and her friend Mike Pender of Endwell; Douglas and Sharon Darrah, of Harpursville, David Darrah, of Owego, Daniel and Dori Darrah, of Barton; and Bryan Darrah of Owego; 6 step-grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren,and several cousins. He was predeceased by 2 sons, Donald F. and George Westbrook.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial Contributions in Don's memory may be made to either Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St.,Oneonta, NY 13820; or to the First United Methodist Church of Chenango Bridge, PO Box 501, Chenango Bridge, NY 13745. Envelopes for memorial contributions are available by contacting the funeral home.
