IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris Lee
Fairchild
August 4, 1938 – September 8, 2018
Doris Lee Fairchild, 80, returned to her heavenly home on September 8, 2018 after a very courageous battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm and unwavering belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Doris was born to the late Lillian Hadden and Louie Sprague in Shavertown on August 4, 1938. She married Stanley Fairchild on January 21, 1955. They raised their four children in Trout Creek in the house that they built. Both Doris and Stanley were avid Christians and were active in the Trout Creek Community Church. Doris was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Doris loved all the children of Trout Creek. She would welcome them to sit and visit with her as she shared stories of the Lord.
In her later years, Doris' passion was going to thrift stores and yard sales. She loved to take someone else's trash and make it new again. She loved to surprise her grandchildren with the surprises she would find them.
Doris is survived by her children, Steven (Roxann) Fairchild of Trout Creek, Cindy (Tim) Armstrong of South Carolina, Sandra Fairchild of Trout Creek, and Connie (Chris McNamara) Fairchild of Walton. She also had many grandchildren, Dean and Tina, Shawna and Andy, Jennifer and Joe, Cassie, Angela, Josh, Bryan and Gina, Ryan, Ethan, Dusty, Gabriel, and Dominic. Her great grandchildren, Brooke, Sam, Ellie, JoJo, Kaylee, Christopher, Kaitlynn, Josh, Paige, Luke, and Lily. Doris is survived by her brothers and sisters, Marie Flora and Jerry Snow, Charlotte Emerich, Mary and Don Charles, Caroline Lacey, and Allen and Janet Hadden, and many nieces, and nephews.
Doris was predeceased by her husband Stanely in 1984, her older brother, France and her younger brother Arley.
A memorial service to remember and celebrate Doris's life will be held at the Trout Creek Community Church on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 1:00PM. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
Memorial contributions may be made in Doris' name to the Trout Creek Community Church, P. O. Box 47, Trout Creek, New York 13847 or the Trout Creek Fire Department/EMS, 8695 County Highway 27, Trout Creek, New York 13847.
