On January 25, 2021, Doris L Hitt, 85, passed away at Chase Memorial Nursing Home, in New Berlin, NY, where she was a resident since 2017.

She was born in Walton, NY on February 6, 1935, the daughter of Ralph and Wavie Gregory.

Doris attended school at the Loomis Brook School Jouse near the family farm on Finch Hollow Road. She married Victor L Hitt on March 8th 1952 and raised 10 children in Walton, NY. Later in life they moved to Bainbridge, NY, where she worked at Keith Clark in Sidney for 10 years.

Doris loved talking about her children, sitting with sister-in-law Stacia Wood on her porch atop Seely Wood Rd, taking walks through a fresh falling snow and loved to see the daffodils popping through the grass each spring. She loved going to Pines Brook Baptist Church and Northfield Community Church in Walton or just sitting reading her bible.

Doris was predeceased by her loving husband Victor of 54 years, her Daughter Barbara, Brother Douglas Gregory and Sisters Amy Irene Furgeson & Celia Gregory; Brothers-In-Law Albie Tomao, Mel Hitt, Robert Jaynes and Donald Furgeson; Sisters-in-Law Hester Gregory and Vivian Hitt. She is survived by her Brother Richard Gregory, sisters-in-law Mary Lou McDonald, Del Jaynes, Stacia Wood and Julia Gregory; Children Victor (Sheila) Hitt, William (Tanya) Hitt, Daniel (Valerie) Hitt, Ted (Cindy) Hitt, Sherry (David) Meres, Cindy Bush (Bob Mills), Kenny (Sandy) Hitt, Harold (Carol) Hitt, Holley (Jerry) Pinney and Daughter-in-Law Lynda Hitt; as well as 23 Grandchildren, 54 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, along with Many Nieces & Nephews!

A graveside service to celebrate Doris's life will be held at Walton Cemetery on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chase Nursing Home, 1 Terrace Heights, New Berlin, NY 13411.
